Welcome to the Sylvia Beaufoy Centre

The Sylvia Beaufoy Centre (SBC) provides a unique service to the young people of Petworth and the surrounding villages in rural West Sussex. Initially set up as The Petworth Youth Association in 1962 as a Charitable Trust, PYA transferred to CIO status in 2021 and is formally named after its original founder, Sylvia Beaufoy.

The Centre offers a range of open-access positive activities over five days each week and during school holidays, for young people aged up to 18.  Sessions are arranged taking account of the needs and interests of over 500 young people who attend the Centre from Petworth and the surrounding area. Our clubs offer a much needed, inclusive, safe space where young people can spend time in a positive way, be part of a wider community of peers and supportive adults and find help when needed. Our aim is to improve the lives of the young people of Petworth and the wider rural area, encouraging them to make better choices whilst developing skills for life.

For young people in school years 5 and 6, this club provides the opportunity to attend the Centre and socialise with friends. Each week there is a planned activity or a theme and young people will have access to the Centre's facilities such as the games room and chill-out areas. A tuck shop is available so don't forget some pennies!
